For this initial event we have invited project partners from South Carolina, Puerto Rico, and Vermont, in part because of existing inter-institutional and professional relationships. Equally important is the desire to include participants from diverse geographies, so as to allow for comparisons across broad environmental and cultural places. The goal is for partners to share about place-based endeavors and models in their home settings and nurture an ongoing exchange of ideas, faculty, students, teachers, and community members between these places.
The major objectives of the Summit are to:
- establish a conceptual framework and temporal scope for the network
- identify opportunities for program development and academic exchange
- lay the groundwork for a collaborative grant proposal to support the development of this emerging research network and associated activities
